The strategic partnership between the ONiO and Exeger combines ONiO’s advanced microcontrollers with Exeger’s Powerfoyle technology, driving forward the development of sustainable, low-maintenance electronics. This collaboration ushers in a new era where sustainable energy is seamlessly integrated into our daily lives.
The collaboration focuses on developing devices that can draw power from any light source, whether natural outdoor or ambient indoor. Through the integration of Powerfoyle, devices operate with complete autonomy, while remaining 100% batteryless in order to help eliminate the alarming impact that disposable battery waste has on the environment.

The first outcome of this partnership is a proof-of-concept wireless button powered entirely by light. The device features only two components: Exeger’s Powerfoyle solar cell and ONiO’s ultra-low-power wireless microcontroller, ONiO.zero. The microcontroller is directly powered by Powerfoyle and is capable of reading input, processing data, and communicating wirelessly – without the need for batteries or additional power management components.
This proof-of-concept highlights the potential for fully autonomous, maintenance-free electronic devices that operate solely on ambient light.
